What if my line manager is not supportive of my personal development and my interest in coaching and/or I have issues with my line manager?

It may be best to try to resolve these issues through your internal processes before you start on coaching. The support of your line manager in the workplace is the best way to make sure that any learning from coaching is brought back and used effectively. There some guidance notes for line managers/sponsors in FAQs that explain the benefits of joining the Coaching Network.

However, if you still feel that you need to embark on coaching now, you will need to get approval and support for your application to join the Coaching Network from someone else in your organisation e.g. another manager who knows you well or someone in an HR or Training and Development role. This person is described as your sponsor.
